Leadership in the Digital Age

Nov 08, 2020
Leadership in the digital age like building a tower of tones together
Today, more than ever, leadership in business is vital for a business' survival. With the real world being shut down in parts again for the second time this year across the world, it is now vital to understand how to lead in these times.

One thing is true and sure: We need to embrace digital more than ever. Businesses who do not have a sound digital strategy belong to the endangered species. But also companies who have not adapted their digital strategy in the past months belong in this group.

This is why leadership in the digital age is so important: Being able to see, understand and then take massive action to establish a solution that fits the business, the markets, the industry you are in.

So what defines great leadership in these times?
I believe the following qualities need to be embraced:
  • Be open and receptive for changes, don't believe you know everything
  • Be willing and able to act upon those changes, don't hold back. Now is the time to go all in.
  • Be firm and know where you are heading, as employees, teams are looking up to you.

While the first two points are clear and belong to the management set up for some time, no 3 is actually quite challenging these days: You need to bring the knowledge in digital to the table, to give direction. No worries, if you feel that you need to get more knowledge in digital to lead your company, your business, you are in good company here.

And on top of this:
It is not enough that teams know the tools and implement them in accordance to the overarching business strategy. It is important that the underlying business strategy has to be reflective of digital and the chances and challenges that this still 'new' way of communicating, selling brings along. This is what I call 'having a digital mindset': Being able to look behind the curtain of digital and quickly grasp where and how you can use these tools to get to where you want to go.

If you want to continue building that mindset, be reminded that I will publish daily article and videos to help you build this digital mindset during these troubled times to skyrocket your business.

Let's embark on this powerful journey... the future is brighter than you might think today.

Best, Sebastian
